The North Fork Wild Winter: A Testament to its Magic

Winter in the mountains is an unforgettable experience, and Sicamous sits in one of the best geological locations in all of the Columbia Shuswap.

The Monashee Mountains rise above, while world-renowned Shuswap Lake glistens in the sun, full of stories and adventure. Surrounded by the Inland Temperate Rainforest, the forests, and scenery here is truly awe-inspiring.

The North Fork Wild is a local wonder and beloved trail system.
In the wintertime, this network of trails is one of the best in the area for those willing to adventure by snowshoes. Parking at the lower trailhead is accessible, and a well-marked trail leads you through the canopy of evergreens over locally bush-crafted bridges, stairs, and wooden walkways. The views and the sounds of the Eagle and Perry Rivers orchestrate your journey. Geological formations invite you to learn and appreciate this true wonder of the Shuswap.

All of the trails in the North Fork Wild are blazed for snowshoers. Enter the North Fork Wild system and follow the orange trail marker signs starting at the lower trailhead. There are several trail options from here, and unique ecological communities connect the trails of interest.  Discover the mossy Riverside Trail along the west bank of Perry River, the impressive old Hemlock Forest Grove loop, and the wetland bog bridge over prehistoric skunk cabbage on Sloughs Trail. You can also explore a short section of the old 1924 Pack Trail north of the park into older growth cedar hemlock forest in non-winter months.

Peter Jennings donated his 21 hectares to the CSRD in 2012 for this renowned park, for all to enjoy! A plaque commemorates his generosity and his vision. This is a dedicated Conservation Park and an important educational environment. Peter passed away in June 2016.
